Don't know where "patrickmeboy" ate breakfast, but it couldn't have been the Uptown Cafe. The food is fantastic, always consistent, and you don't get Hollandaise on your chicken fried steak - unless you ask for it, on a Saturday (the only day they serve Eggs Benedict - the best in town). The service is friendly, the prices more than reasonable. It's a great place for kids and large parties. Patrick should try it again and make sure he's in the right place.

probably means I will not try this restaurant again for breakfast. The first time was good although I cant remember what i ordered. The 2nd time I ordered chicken fried steak, the gravy was Hollandaise with ham chunks, the steak was tough and stringy. It was not very good.The service is good, the staff helpful and friendly, the atmosphere funky, but the food is the thing, i'll return to restaurants where the service might lack one time, but not where the food lacks.

My little son and I go here almost every Saturday for breakfast. The food is good and the prices are reasonable. He gets the pancackes w/ sausage and fruit. I get the 2 eggs and toast + coffee. We spend about $12 incl. tip.The coffee is excellent. The staff is very friendly and have greeted us even as we exited our car. They have outdoor seating in a little garden area with a fountain. My family loves homey breakfast places with good food and no pretense. This is a great one.
